Woollydogs are handmade miniature dogs. The average size is around 5” x 3” (13cm x 8cm) and they are always just small enough to sit on your hand. The dogs are made using a crafting technique known as needle-felting. This is a method of teasing, shaping and firming raw wool using a jagged edged needle. The raw wools used are from a variety of sheep breeds, such as Moorit Shetland, Grey Suffolk, Merino and Black Jacob. Each dog takes many hours to complete, usually between 10 and 15, depending on the intricacy involved in creating it.
